Lets learn about it
What is PR?
The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) defines PR as “a strategic communication process that builds mutually beneficial relationships between organizations and their publics.” Its professionals also are obliged to manage an organization’s public image and reputation.
- Social posting and interaction.
- Press conference arrangements.
- Crisis management and strategies
- Organizing Events (Promotional, charity events or other types)
Networking and creating real business connections - Press release writing and publishing.
Public relations often gets confused with Marketing and sometimes almost lives under its shadow. Marketeers use promotion to create a positive image of products, services and the organization to its customers. While the end result might resemble a PR campaign, Marketing campaigns try to fill in marketing needs and with that in mind drive sales up which clearly differs from the public relations campaign focus that is to create a long lasting relationship between the public and the organization.
Public relations involve a two-way communication with customers as advertising and much of Marketing tactis and campaigns involve a one-way communication. With that I do not intent to say that one is better than the other, they just have diferent methods to reach the same goal. Public relations can in fact work together with advertisers and assist them in their effort to sell giving them valuable feedback about client and product feedback and the relative sentiment towards the new campaigns. Its a strategy of distributing relevant and meaninful content to your target audience.
